What is Permanent Makeup and Micropigmentation?
Permanent Makeup(PMU) is the process which sterile hypoallergenic cosmetic pigments are placed into the dermal layer of the skin using single use individual disposable sterile needles. We use a digital micropigmentation device from Nouveau Contour that measures the skin resistance with each puncture for consistency, less swelling and ensures the pigment is placed right at the exact layer of the skin for best retention, encapsulating the pigment also for best retention. PMU is not the same process as in conventional tattoos. PMU pigments will fade over time unlike conventional tattoos. We use different pigments for the face, not carbon ink. It’s called permanent because even though it fades, particles remain in the skin. The areas to be treated are numbed using approved topical anesthetics to make your experience a comfortable & pleasant one.
Is it really permanent?
YES & NO... I use only the finest permanent makeup products/pigments and they will soften/fade in color over time....typically 1-3 yrs. Even as the permanent makeup fades and becomes less visible, there will always be particles in the skin forever. The natural elements, anti-aging creams, sun exposure, sweating, tanning beds and just age of the permanent makeup, without question, will fade in time. It is recommended to get color boosts to freshen up the Permanent Makeup to maintain its natural look annually.
Permanent Makeup is an art, NOT a science. Clients’ results will vary and using a pencil or powder may still be needed. We have no control over your bodies healing process and each time a procedure is done, the pigment will have less retention due to scar tissue. At some point the procedure can longer be performed due to scar tissue and the aging of the skin. (Typically 2-6 times) but, varies person to person.
What is the recovery/healing time?
Healing time varies from person to person. With proper topical anesthetics & numbing, swelling will be very minimal and typically there is little to no bleeding involved with my procedures. I provide each client with an ointment for the aftercare and written instructions. The treated area will begin to soften/lighten up within 3-30 days...and it is recommended to have your touch-up appointment 6 weeks following your original procedure. Then every 1-2 yrs. for color boost, schedule permitting.
Hair Stroke Technique
Hair Stoke technique is when the Specialist implants the pigment into the skin in hair-like strokes giving the appearance of hair. This technique is becoming more common and popular in the Permanent Makeup Industry. Keep in mind that this technique will require color boosts every 1-2 yrs to maintain it's natural appearance...the hair strokes with time will fade, blur or look more powdered. The aging of our skin and tissue will affect the appearance of your permanent makeup, this is universal in all permanent makeup applications, especially as the pigment ages. They will need to be refreshed. As the skin ages, the eyebrows WILL look more powdered, no matter what
Fitzpatrick skin types 1-2 (Red heads/Blondes-fair skin-light eyes)
You will be red, swollen and sometimes the pigment will not retain good and you may require additional procedures. Fitzpatrick skin types 3-6 please note the hair strokes will not be as visible as on lighter skin types.
Before beginning the process the eyebrow area is numbed with only the best topical numbing creams. The shape and colors are chosen by the client and technician prior to the application of the Permanent Makeup.
